Minor in Communication Studies

This minor may be taken as one of the minors in the bachelor of arts or bachelor of science in the liberal studies general degree program. A minor in communication studies requires students to complete three prerequisite courses: COM219, COM224, and SPK208 (earning a combined GPA in these courses of 2.89 or higher), and to earn a grade of “C” or better in WRT120 and WRT200 (or any intermediate-level writing course deemed its equivalent). Three elective courses may then be selected from any 300- or 400-level courses offered in Communication Studies, but a “C” grade or better must be earned in each of these courses, and a 2.5 average must be achieved in the minor before clearance for graduation with a minor will be granted. A student must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or better to gain admission to the minor in communication studies as well as meeting program admission requirements, stated above.
